Our History

Prestbury is a large village on the edge of Cheltenham, with a significant number of young families. Historically, all children interested in football have had to join clubs outside the immediate area. Prestbury Phantoms AFC was born out of the discussions of a group of concerned parents who wanted to provide a local facility that families in the area could access more easily. Our aim was to build a community club, whilst improving the health and wellbeing of our children.

The club was incorporated on 1 October 2012. We have grown rapidly, assisted by a Grow the Game Grant from the Football Foundation, which was awarded to the club in May 2013. This grant enabled a significant number of our coaches to attend FA training courses, as well as providing funds for facility hire and club promotion.

We have a fantastic Partnership Agreement with a local senior school, Pittville School, who provide outdoor training space.

In the course of 6 years we have grown from a handful of coaches and around 20 members, to a club with over 80 coaches and over 375 members ranging from U5s to U16s.
